Janine obtained her Dietetics degree in 2004 from the North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus. While studying, she already realised that she had a passion for paediatric nutrition and after working for a few years in Leratong and Kalafong Hospital as a community service Dietitian and junior Dietitian, she started her own private practice in 2008 with a special interest in paediatric nutrition.

Janine has been consulting since 2008 at the Baby Therapy Centre, which focuses on early childhood intervention, and since 2017 at the Pretoria Centre for Cerebral Palsy, focusing on the nutrition support of children with Cerebral Palsy pre- and post their orthopaedic surgery.  Inpatient consultations at Life Groenkloof and Netcare Femina Hospital are also done.

Janine did contract work for Unisa's Department of Life and Consumer Sciences from 2008 to 2022, initially as an external marker for their nutrition-related modules and thereafter, as an e-Tutor of a first-year nutrition module, where she was able to share her passion for nutrition in an academic way as well.

Working with children with special needs over the past seventeen years has taught Janine the importance of focusing on an individual and realistic approach to help improve their quality of life through nutrition.
