Kerstin graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1987. She specialises in Neurological Paediatrics with extensive experience in the following areas:
- Autism
The young autistic child - a developmental approach and guiding parents as to how to design their program at home and deal with their sensory issues or behaviour problems.
The young autistic adult - a prevocational programme is used to explore possible work/career opportunities, as well as working on the social aspects in combination with a work analysis.
- The TEACCH approach - organization of the physical environment, a predictable sequence of activities, visual schedules, routines and flexibility, work/activity systems and visually structured activities.
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) approach
- The young child/baby with developmental delay
- Sensory issues - affecting emotional regulation and behaviour
- Learning difficulties - School readiness - trained in Sensory integration as well as Brain Gym; establishing underlying difficulties that affect the young child in their development or the learning aspects of a school-going child
- Cerebral Palsy -Trained in the Neurodevelopmental Approach for Cerebral Palsy using the Bobath Approach.
- Correct postural management and experience in seating.
